Frequently asked questions

How do I open a VSDX file without Visio?

Drop the VSDX file on this page. It is unpacked and rendered entirely in your browser, so you do not need Microsoft Visio or an account.

What is a VSDX file?

VSDX is the XML-based format used by Microsoft Visio. It stores pages, shapes, connectors, and text in a ZIP package, which allows a browser-based editor to read it.

Can I edit the diagram instead of only viewing it?

Yes. Move shapes, edit labels, and then export the updated diagram as an image, PDF, or draw.io file from the Diagram menu.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The viewer runs locally in your browser tab. Closing the tab removes the opened file from the viewer.

Can I turn an image or PDF into a VSDX file?

Yes. Use LayerBack's converter to rebuild a diagram image or PDF page as a VSDX with editable shapes, connectors, and text.
